First Post: Who You Are Matters
Where I come from
Where I'm going
Towards my degree, then working in consulting for a few years, then I have no idea
How I Plan on Getting There
I plan on studying to graduate college, then working hard to not get fired from my job. That would be ideal! I'm planning on talking with people already in the workforce so I can understand how to do succeed in my job
How I'm Like my Parents
I am Asian and so are they!
How I'm Not Like My Parents
I am young and they are not :(
Expectations of Myself:
I have developed expectations of myself to succeed in something I do. I think I am also meeting my parents expectations for me to achieve success. However, I am still exploring what success means to me and what will make me satisfied. Right now financial-related success standards is a large part of what drives me but I feel like that alone will not satisfy me. I expect myself to help generate a positive impact if I can
Role Model:
I think that one role model I would choose is Abraham Lincoln. He led a country through civil war and also stood up for human rights because he felt it was the right thing to do, even though a lot of people around him doubted him and even went to war with him.
Connecting with the Animal World:
I have a special connection with pigeons. I feel like they're chill and can be funny. But at the same time they have the work ethic to do stuff like find shelter and steal pizzas and I connect with that. Plus they are pretty adaptable and I think that I am also decently adaptable.
Connecting with Nature Kingdom:
When I was younger I grew a bean sprout in class and I was able to take it home. I learned that even at a young age I could nurture it and create life from a seemingly lifeless bean and that was so cool to me. I learned to water it and sun it and take care of it. Unfortunately it died though and I also learned that I am not good at keeping plants alive.

Daniel,
ReplyDeleteI loved your comment about pigeons and about how you are expecting yourself to have a positive impact on the world. I also have no idea what I want to really do after college, so I feel that comment about just not wanting to get fired and figuring it out as you go along.
Birds aren't real. Pigeons are robots placed by the government. Just kidding. I think pigeons are actually really cool and honestly can be very entertaining to watch. I'm also terrible with plants and have yet to keep one alive. Maybe we should look into some low maintenance plants.
ReplyDeleteI loved your description of how you have a deep connection to pigeons and the story about bean sprouts. I don't have the skills required to keep plants alive too, so i stick with fake ones for aesthetic.
ReplyDeleteSimilar to you, I believe that financially motivated standards of success, alone, will not satisfy my desire to find value in life. I also believe that it is important to explore what success mean to an individual in order to motivate them to achieve accomplishments in life.
